DESCRIPTION

Tpqic is the driver for the Integrated Solutions QIC-02 1/4 inch cartridge tape controller.  The tpqic driver supports a single tape drive per controller. 

REGISTERS

Controller 0 is assumed to be at address 0xfff550 in VME A24 supervisor address space (address modifier 0x3D).  Controller 1 is assumed to be at address 0xfff560 in VME A24 supervisor space.  The user may access other tpqic controllers with control registers at addresses other than these by specifying the negative of the control register base address as the controller number. 

IOCTLS

Currently the tpqic driver supports no special ioctls. 

DIAGNOSTICS

The following diagnostics are printed by the tpqic driver:

tpqic bad controller number %d
A controller number greater than 1 was specified

tpqic bad unit number %d
A unit number other than 0 was specified

no cartridge tape controller at 0x%x
The tape controller hardware did not respond to references to control registers at the address shown

tpqic(%d) in use
The tape controller was opened on a second descriptor while already in use

tpqic(%d) not online
An open was attempted with no tape cartridge in the tape drive

Failed to read in volume header
A tape error was detected that prohibited read the tape directory

bad volume header
The tape directory was not present, incorrectly formatted, or checksummed incorrectly

tpqic(%d) never came ready
The tape controller never indicated that it was ready to accept a command

Numerous other errors may be reported that indicate failure of the tpqic hardware or i/o failures due to bad media.
