NAME
jbimplock - Imports and locks a volume into a jukebox drive
SYNOPSIS
/usr/bin/jbimplock volume1 volume2 jukebox_id
DESCRIPTION
The jbimplock imports and locks a volume with a user defined soft label
into a jukebox drive. You can use the jukebox drive to perform raw data
operations on volumes with no labels or no standard file format. In a
standard jukebox environment, volumes without labels cannot be imported
into a jukebox. The jbimplock command overcomes this by allowing user
defined "soft" labels. These "soft" labels are treated by the software as
normal labels.
The volume1 and volume2 parameters are the user-defined volume names for
side 1 and side 2 of a cartridge which is to be imported and mounted in to
a jukebox drive. The jukebox_id parameter identifies the jukebox to which
a cartridge is imported. The jbimplock command returns with the device ID
of the drive into which the cartridge has been mounted.
The cartridge imported into the jukebox by this method cannot occupy a
storage slot. The only other command valid for the cartridge is
jbexpunlock, which unlocks and exports the cartridge out of the jukebox.
EXAMPLES
To import and lock vol_a and vol_b into the drive of the JB01 jukebox, key
in the following command:
jbimplock vol_a vol_b JB01
NOTES
The jbimplock command requires superuser privileges.
CAUTIONS
Media imported into the jukebox with jbimplock can accept only one other
jukebox command: jbexpunlock. Do not try to allocate a storage slot for
this media, since it would fail when the jukebox software tries to read
its label.
DIAGNOSTICS
Appropriate error messages are issued if jbimplock completes
unsuccessfully. The following includes the most common error message:
