  1. No video display with Sun cable adapter

Problem Log

No video display with Sun cable adapter

The InterPro 2730 workstation uses a standard DB13W3 connector to attach a monitor. Conventional wisdom on the Internet suggests the pinout is the same as or sufficiently similar that used on Sun workstations, but no video is displayed on the monitor if a Sun video cable is used.

The DB13W3 connector on the SMT081 framebuffer does not match the Sun—nor any other 'standard' workstation—specification. It displays a 2 megapixel raster (1600×1280) with separate horizontal (100.8 kHz) and vertical (76 Hz) sync, using the following pinout:

DB13W3 ↔ DE15 (VGA)
RED ( A1 ) RED ( 1 )
GREEN ( A2 ) GREEN ( 2 )
BLUE ( A3 ) BLUE ( 3 )
VSYNC ( 2 ) VSYNC ( 14 )
GND ( 4 ) GND ( 5 )
HSYNC ( 5 ) HSYNC ( 13 )
