INIT(1prom) RISC/os Reference Manual INIT(1prom)

NAME
     init - initialize PROM monitor

SYNOPSIS
     init

DESCRIPTION
The init command reinitializes the PROM Monitor software
state, but preserves the environment variables stored in
     non-volatile RAM (NVRAM).

On multiprocessing RC6380 computers, init(1prom) initializes
the cash and memories for all CPUs in the machine. The PROM
monitor operates as if it came up from power on and performs
a full initialization, including a clear of physical memory.
     The sequence is as fillows:

          1. Set CO_ERROR register in each CPU to noncoherent
             mode.

          2. Zero the BSS and stack areas in the PROM.

          3. Flush caches and size memory.

          4. Set slave CPUs (on multiprocessor computers) to
             idle.

          5. Disable memories and I/O.

          6. Print processor model and memory sizes.

          7. Display the status of boards in each slot.

CAUTIONS
Executing init(1prom) destroys the current data in memory.
