NAME
     statd, rpc.statd - network status monitor

SYNOPSIS
     /etc/rpc.statd

DESCRIPTION
     The program statd is an intermediate version of the status
     monitor; it interacts with lockd(8c) providing the crash and
     recovery functions for the locking services on NFS.

FILES
     /etc/sm
     /etc/sm.bak
     /etc/state

CAVEATS
     The crash of a site is only detected upon its recovery.

     Note that portmap(8c) must be started before statd.

     Do NOT start statd from inetd via /etc/inetd.conf; start
     statd from /etc/rc.net or /etc/rc.local.
