WIRE_DEMO(6)

NAME

wire_demo − example of wire service programming.

DISCLAIMER

This program is furnished on an AS IS basis as a demonstration of TNT applications programming.

SYNOPSIS

wire_demo

DESCRIPTION

Wire_demo is a simple NeWS/TNT program that demonstrates how to use the wire service to provide client-side callbacks for TNT UI operations. It also demonstrates usage of the /setwireclient method for storing tags and tokens inside an object, and of the wiresend procedure for sending messages to the client.

Wire_demo opens a single window containing a horizontal slider with a range of 0..20.  Every time the value changes the client will be notified of the new value.  The client then prints that value to stdout; and if the value is 10, it will extend the slider horizontally (expanding the window if necessary).  The range of the slider will not change when it is expanded.

Wire_demo is an on-line copy of the example program given in the Wire Service chapter in the NeWS Toolkit Reference Manual.

BUGS

If you allow the slider to ‘push’ the pointer while clicking on the right cable to increase the slider value, when the slider value reaches 10 the resize may leave the slider drag box under the pointer.
