loop − software loopback interface

SYNOPSIS

pseudodevice loop

DESCRIPTION

loop is a software loopback mechanism that can be used for performance analysis, software testing, and/or local communication.  This interface is Internet addressable as network 127 (decimal).  The local host is host 0.  The hosts file /etc/hosts must contain the entry
