objbld(X) 06 January 1993 objbld(X) Name object builder - build or modify Desktop objects Command syntax objbld Desktop syntax Double-click on the Object Builder icon. The Object Builder icon is, by default, in the Controls window. Description The Object Builder control builds Desktop objects. It defines the object by associating an icon picture with the actions taken when a user double clicks on the object and the actions taken when an a user drops an icon on the object. Scripts used to define Double Click Actions and Drag and Drop Actions must use the Deskshell command language. Command options The objbld command supports the standard Xt options. Desktop options Picture This controls which bitmap or pixmap icon is associated with the object. You can drop an icon on the Object Builder window or select a picture file using the Install menu's Picture option. Double Click Actions This controls the actions taken when a user double clicks on the object. The actions for Button 1 can be defined separately from those for Button 2. You can select actions for an object using one of the following methods. 1. Create a default action script by dropping an executable on the Object Builder window or by selecting an executable using the Install menu's Executable option. Default actions are assigned to the new object. 2. Use an action script from an existing object by dropping the object on the Object Builder window or by selecting Open Object from the Install menu. The object's existing actions are assigned and you can save the result as a new object using the File menu's Save As option. 3. Loading an existing actions script file by selecting Double Click Actions or Drag & Drop Actions from the Install menu and then select- ing the script file. Drag & Drop Actions This controls the actions taken when a user drops an icon on the object. The actions for Buttons 1 & 2 can be defined separately from those for Buttons 1 & 2 with the <Ctrl> key depressed. You can select actions as described under Double Click Actions.
