NAME
iiop - Tricord Intelligent SCSI I/O processor subsystem
DESCRIPTION
The Tricord Intelligent I/O processor driver provides a SCSI
device interface to the following Tricord intelligent SCSI I/O
processors: IIOP, EIIOP, ISS.
An IIOP/EIIOP manages two SCSI buses. On each SCSI bus, the
IIOP/EIIOP itself reserves ID 0; therefore, SCSI IDs 1 through
7 may be used for SCSI devices.
An ISS manages four SCSI buses. On each SCSI bus, the ISS
itself reserves ID 0; therefore, SCSI I's 1 through 7 may be
used for SCSI devices.
There are no selectable parameters for the user to configure
when adding additional IIOP/EIIOP/ISS SCSI I/O processors to
Tricord PowerFrame models. Interrupts 17-23 are used for
these devices and are defined on a slot basis. Dual port
memory addresses are defined by the board identifier. The
Tricord SCSI I/O processor driver will automatically configure
additional boards when installed in a PowerFrame machine.
The Tricord Intelligent I/O Processor driver enables PDI
compliant target drivers (such as sd01, st01) to communicate
on the SCSI buses with target controllers and logical units.
This allows normal access to mass-storage devices using
standard system interfaces and filesystems. It is also
possible for the knowledgeable user to access the SCSI-bus
subsystem directly by using the driver's pass-through
interface. This allows the users to issue sb control blocks
directly to the SCSI target device. To find the appropriate
pass-through device to use for a particular target device, the
user should open(2) the character special file for the device
in question and then issue the B_GETDEV ioctl. The device
value returned should then be used to create a character
special file which, when opened, may be used for pass-through
(SDI_SEND ioctl).
ioctl Calls
The following ioctl(2) commands are provided by this driver:
SDI_SEND
Sends a pass-through command (SCSI control block) to a
target controller, bypassing the associated target

driver.
B_GETTYPE
Returns the bus name (SCSI) and device driver name of
the specific device.
HA_VER
Returns a ver_no structure describing this driver.
