sadp(8) CLIX sadp(8)
NAME
sadp - Runs a disk access profiler
SYNOPSIS
sadp [-th] [-d device[-drive]] s [n]
FLAGS
The sadp command contains the following flags:
-t The -t flag reports the data in tabular form (default)
-h This flag reports the data in histogram form.
-d device Gives the type of disk devices.
DESCRIPTION
The sadp command reports disk access location and seek distance, in
tabular or histogram form. It samples disk activity once every second
during an interval of s seconds. This is done repeatedly if n is
specified. Cylinder usage and disk distance are recorded in units of 8
cylinders.
Valid values for device are: hdsk for integral disk and fdsk for integral
floppy. The drive attribute specifies the disk drives and it may be one
of the following:
1. A drive number in the range supported by the device
2. Two numbers separated by a minus (indicating an inclusive range), or
3. A list of drive numbers separated by commas.
Up to 8 disk drives may be reported. The -d flag may be omitted, if only
one device is present.
The -t flag causes the data to be reported in tabular form. The -h flag
produces a histogram of the data on the printer. To specify the default
setting, use the -t flag.
EXAMPLES
The following string may be used to generate 4 tabular reports, each
describing cylinder usage and seek distance for the hdsk disk drive 0
during a 15-minute interval.
sadp -d hdsk-0 900 4
