  NAME

    mren - Renames an existing MS-DOS file

  SYNOPSIS

    mren [-v] sourcefile targetfile

  FLAGS

    -v   Runs the command in verbose mode.  This flag displays the new file
         name if the name supplied is not valid.

  DESCRIPTION

    The mren command renames an existing file on an MS-DOS formatted disk.
    Subdirectories are supported with either the slash (/) or '\' separator.
    The use of the '\' separator requires the names to be enclosed in quotes
    to protect them from the shell.

  NOTES

    If a specified MS-DOS target name is not valid, mren changes the name.  If
    the -v flag is set, mren prompts the user to accept or reject the new
    name.

    The path component of the target filename (if supplied) is ignored. You
    may not use mren to move a file from one subdirectory to another.

    The mren command may also be used to rename directories.

    The environmental variable MCWD may be used to establish a current working
    directory (relative to the MS-DOS disk).

    The environmental variable FLOPPY may be used to establish a default
    floppy drive other than the device currently linked to /dev/rdsk/fl.
    Valid choices include /dev/rdsk/floppy to designate a 5.25-inch drive, or
    /dev/rdsk/ufloppy to designate a 3.5-inch drive.

    This command does not support wildcards.
