NAME

softspcd − SoftBench Remote Execution Daemon

SYNOPSIS

softspcd [ -t directory ]

DESCRIPTION

softspcd is the SoftBench Remote Execution server.  It is not intended to be started directly by the user, rather it should be started automatically by the inetd server (see inetd(1M)). It is started in response to a SoftBench client requesting Remote Execution to a particular machine.

The softspcd program takes only one option:

-t directory Directory to use for user authentication.  See below.

AUTHENTICATION

When communication is established by a SoftBench client to softspcd, the user id of the connecting client must be passed over to the daemon.  This is done by use of an authentication file, which must be in a directory accessible by both the client and the server. Normally, the directory used for this is /tmp.  If for some reason this directory is not accessible to both machines, then the directory can be changed by using the -t option.

AUTHOR

softspcd was developed by the Hewlett-Packard Company.
