NAME
       cird - Ciprico Rimfire VME disk controller  (88K only)

DESCRIPTION
       The cird device driver is the underlying driver supporting both the
       cied (ESDI) and cimd (SMD) classes of VME-based disk controllers.
       Any ESDI or SMD disk can also be configured into a kernel using the
       cird driver mnemonic in place of cied or cimd.  However, direct use
       of cird device names should be avoided, because they are not always
       acceptable substitutes for the real device names.  In particular, the
       AViiON SCM will not accept boot command lines containing cird device
       names.
