passwd(4)

etc_passwd(1M) C2 Trusted DG/UX 5.4.2T etc_passwd(1M)

NAME
       etc_passwd - reconstruct /etc/passwd from the A&A database.

SYNOPSIS
       etc_passwd

DESCRIPTION
The etc_passwd command generates the lines that should appear in
/etc/passwd from information in the A&A database. Each user defined
in the A&A database is searched to see if a public password set
exists. If it does, the passwd(4) line is built using the password
from the public password set, and the other information from the
       user's default attribute sets.

The output is written to standard out.

EXAMPLE
To reconstruct /etc/passwd from the A&A database, issue the following
       command:

              etc_passwd >/etc/passwd

DIAGNOSTICS
etc_passwd writes all diagnostic messages to stderr. The etc_passwd
command exits with one of the following values:

0 The group file was generated successfully, subject to
                  indicated errors

              1 Can't find the A&A database

NOTES
The /etc/passwd database is automatically regenerated every time the
following items in the A&A database are modified for any user:

              ⊕ password is changed
              ⊕ attribute sets are changed
