loginrc(1M) loginrc(1M)NAME loginrc - dispatches programs for support of local logins SYNOPSIS loginrc DESCRIPTION loginrc is a script that establishes support for logging in. This type of support is normally established for each device through which users might want access to the A/UX system. It can also be the point of control for determining whether Macintosh file systems will appear on the desktop. To prevent other Macintosh file systems from being mounted, you can alter the macgetty command that appears in this script so that it has one or more -i options. The SCSI ID you supply along with the -i option should reference a disk device that contains a Macintosh file system that you wish to prevent from appearing on the desktop (see macgetty(1M)). A program that supports the interaction required for logging in is also known as a login listener. Normally there is a one-to-one correspondence between login-listener processes and terminals that are attached to a system. Login listening is handled through a character-based user interface in many UNIX systems. In A/UX, a graphical user interface is provided for logging in through the local keyboard. Because graphical displays are standard equipment for Apple Macintosh computers, the supplied configuration of loginrc offers a graphical interface for local logins. See Login(1M) for a description of the menus and dialog boxes that are available while logging in. FILES /etc/loginrc Executable file SEE ALSO devnm(1M), getty(1M), macgetty(1M) March 1993 1
