NOTES ON STARTING AND USING THE DSEE ICON Starting the DSEE Icon The DSEE icon is a small graphic symbol on the screen that represents the DSEE process window. The icon is a convenient way of maintaining the DSEE process window, which, for efficiency's sake, you should keep running. If you're using the icon and you want to issue a DSEE command, simply select the icon, as described below. This causes the DSEE facility to display its process window on the screen. If you use the DSEE environment frequently, you may want the icon to appear each time you log in. To select this feature, place the following command in your personal start-up file, startup_dm[suffix]. cpo /com/dsee [-wd pathname] [-nd pathname] The -wd pathname option sets pathname as your default initial working directory. The -nd pathname option sets pathname as the default naming directory. Your personal start-up file resides in the user_data subdirectory of your home (node) directory, and has the following pathname: home_directory/user_data/startup_dm[suffix] The suffix has the same format as that used in system start-up files; it indicates the display type of the node executing the file. If you use more than one type of display, you should have more than one personal start-up file. Your personal start-up file executes every time you log in, provided it is invoked from the login start-up file startup_login (in `node_data or /sys/dm). Check startup_login to see that it contains the command cmdf user_data/startup_dm[suffix] which invokes the personal start-up file. If this command is preceded by the comment designator (#), remove the comment designator. Using the DSEE Icon If you're using the DSEE icon and you want to issue a DSEE command, hit the space bar while the cursor is pointing to the icon. The icon converts to a process window. To go from the process window to the icon, hit the space bar while the cursor is in the window's transcript pad. The process window converts to the DSEE icon. The Display Manager's icon command also toggles the DSEE window into and out of its icon form. For more information about the DM's icon command, refer to the DOMAIN System Command Reference.
