START_SH(1) Domain/OS BSD START_SH(1)
NAME
start_sh - start a log-in Bourne shell
SYNOPSIS
start_sh
DESCRIPTION
The start_sh command starts a log-in Bourne shell, which reads the files
/etc/profile and $HOME/.profile (if such a file exists).
NOTES
See sh(1) for more information about particular properties of the Bourne
shell.
When you log in, the first shell started is a log-in shell (i.e., the
first argument is preceded by a -). start_sh lets you start a "log-in"
shell even after initial login. Executing start_sh more than once causes
the /etc/profile and ~/.profile scripts to be run more than once, which
could cause unexpected results. start_sh is supported for compatibility
with previous releases, and is not recommended.
