HELP(1) SysV HELP(1)

NAME
help - ask for SCCS help

SYNOPSIS
     help [ arguments ]

DESCRIPTION
help finds information to explain the use of, or a particular message
     from, an SCCS command.

Arguments can be either message numbers (which normally appear in
parentheses following messages), command names, or one of the following
     types:

type 1 Begins with non-numerics, ends in numerics. The
non-numeric prefix is usually an abbreviation for the
program or set of routines that produced the message.
For example, ge3 means message 3 from the get(1)
                         command.

type 2 Does not contain numerics. That is, it appears as a
command name such as the name get.

type 3 Is all numeric. For example, 26.

FILES
/usr/lib/help directory containing files of message text

/usr/lib/help/helploc file containing locations of help files not in
                              /usr/lib/help
