softmerge(1) SoftBench A.02.00 softmerge(1)

softmerge - SoftBench command to re-read softinit files [ ] [ ] [
] is a SoftBench (see command which sends a request to the Soft-
Bench Message Server. This will cause softinit files to be re-
read so changes to SoftBench execution management can be made
while SoftBench is running. If a line in the softinit file con-
flicts with an entry already in the database, the entry in the
softinit file takes precedence over the old value. The form of a
softinit file is described in the manual. By default, the mes-
sage is handled by the program. The only interface to the sof-
tinit program is through the message server. Invoking it from
the command line will have no effect. Instead, should be used to
send the message. If a softinit file is specified in the com-
mand, that file will be read and its contents will be merged into
the execution management database. If no file is specified, the
program attempts to find the files to merge. If the message
server has the shell environment variable defined, it value
should be a space separated list of specifications. Each of
these softinit files will be merged into the execution management
database. If the shell environment variable is not set, will be
first be merged, and then will be merged. This allows users to
put only changes to the default environment into their file.
Host where the softinit file resides. If not specified, the mes-
sage server host is assumed. The directory which contains the
softinit file. If not specified, $HOME for the message server is
used. The softinit file to be read. SoftBench must be properly
installed and the softbench message server running. was
developed by the Hewlett-Packard Company. softbench(1), soft-
bench(5), softinit(5), encapsulate(1). If set, should contain a
space separated list of softinit files used to construct the exe-
cution management database. This release of SoftBench for Sun
SPARCstations does not handle 8-bit nor 16-bit languages.
Single- and multi-byte character code sets are supported.
