NAME
     Printer Information

DESCRIPTION
     The following printers are supported on Apollo nodes: NEC Spinwriter
     7715, a letter quality printer; connected via an SIO line.

     -    Printronix 300/600 LPM printer, connected to the PBU or DSP80A
          parallel port.

     -    Genicom 3404 dot-matrix printer, connected via an SIO line.

     -    Versatec V-80 printer-plotter, connected via an IKON 10071-5, IKON
          10085 multibus controller or an IKON 10092 AT bus controller.

     -    Imagen 8/300 laser printer, connected via an SIO line, IKON 10085
          multibus controller, IKON 10092 AT bus controller, or the SPE
          parallel port.  This printer supports the Impress page description
          language.

     -    Domain/LASER-26, a 300 dpi 26 ppm laser printer; connected via an
          SIO line, IKON 10085 multibus controller, IKON 10092 AT bus
          controller, or the SPE parallel port.  This printer supports the
          PostScript page description language.

     -    APPLE LaserWriter, a 300 dpi 8 ppm laser printer; connected via an
          SIO line.  This printer supports the PostScript page description
          language.

     -    TI-2108, a 300 dpi 8 ppm laser printer; connected via an SIO line,
          IKON 10085 multibus controller, IKON 10092 AT bus controller, or the
          SPE parallel port.  This printer supports the PostScript page
          description language.

     -    Tektronix 4692, a 150 dpi ink jet plotter; connected via an IKON
          10085 multibus controller, IKON 10092 AT bus controller, or the SPE
          parallel port.

     -    Tektronix 4693D, a 300 dpi thermal transfer plotter, connected via
          an IKON 10085 multibus controller, IKON 10092 AT bus controller, or
          the SPE parallel port.

     Files are printed on these devices by the print server, which runs in a
     separate process on the node to which a printer is attached. The print
     server works in conjuction with two components: the prf (print_file)
     command and the print manager (prmgr), which coordinates print requests
     generated via prf with the printer resources provided by prsvr.
